Scholarships

The Scottish Rite of Erie offers two scholarships each year.

Abbott Scholarship

Leon M. Abbott Scholarships provide financial support for the continuing education of young men and women from Scottish Rite families and Masonic-related youth groups. Since 1951, more than $3 million has been awarded to students from each state of the Northern Jurisdiction. To be eligible for the Abbott Scholarship, applicants must be MEMBERS OF THE VALLEY OF ERIE SCOTTISH RITE, children or grandchildren of living or deceased Members of the Valley of Erie Scottish Rite Masons or Members of any of the Youth Organizations sponsored by the Masonic Fraternity.
Only SOPHOMORE AND JUNIOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AND GRADUATE LEVEL STUDENTS can apply.
The Scholarship is available through the Valley where the applicant resides.
Awards are based on academic achievements and a financial need. Applicants must contact the Valley by mail (PO Box 9007, Erie, PA 16505) or phone (835-0432) in order to receive the official application and instructions. The office phone accepts calls at all times.
NOTE: Abbott and Erie Scholarships are not the same. Paperwork requirements are different for each program - please carefully read the information supplied with each application.
Abbott applications must be back in the Valley office by March 13.2009.

Erie Scholarship

The Scholarship Foundation, Erie Scottish Rite, held their annual meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 and elected the following trustees for a three year term:
R. Perrin Baker, Esq., Herbert J. Johnson, Jr., Esq. and Kim W. Jeffreys.
Applications for the Scholarship Foundation Awards will be available by mail: P.O. Box 1364, Erie, PA 16512 or by calling the Scottish Rite Office at (814) 835-0432. Applications must be filled out completely and returned by March 13, 2009.
A brochure explaining the application and a return envelope for the student's use will be sent with the applications . A Member of the Erie Scottish Rite must sign all applications.
Scholarship awards are limited to the Erie and Crawford County residents and will be given only to four (4) year College Students.
